The original Bigfoot board, featuring the iconic American flag design, is the flagship board of the Bigfoot collection. Named after the company itself, this board draws inspiration from the legendary creature that roams the heart of the Pacific Northwest. With its massive form and keen senses, the Bigfoot is a silent guardian of the wilderness, watching over the delicate balance of nature. As you ride the Bigfoot board, feel the reverence of the land it represents, a protector of the wild, forever watching and waiting.
Limited to only 100 pieces, the Yowie board is the Australian counterpart of Bigfoot, inspired by the cryptid that roams the Australian Outback. Deep in the dense bush, the Yowie, a towering, shaggy creature, silently prowls under the cover of night. Rare sightings and unsettling growls echo through the trees, while whispers of the Yowie’s role as a guardian of ancient secrets persist. Riding this board connects you to the enduring mystery of the Yowie, felt even when unseen, lurking just beyond the edge of the known world.
The Sasquatch, is a legendary creature believed to roam the forests of North America, with the Pacific Northwest being a particularly hotbed of sightings. Descriptions of the Sasquatch vary, but it is typically described as standing between 6 to 15 feet tall, covered in dark brown or reddish hair, and often associated with a strong, unpleasant odor. The earliest recorded sighting dates back to 1884, but reports of encounters continue to emerge today. The Sasquatch is said to possess extraordinary abilities, including superhuman speed, long strides that help it navigate dense forests, the capacity to move through thick brush, climb steep inclines, throw large objects, and even swim with remarkable ease.
From Minnesota comes the iceman. The Minnesota iceman was a large, hairy creature encased in a block of ice. Some compared it to a neanderthal around 5’9” to 6’ tall with large feet and hands. Where it came from had many differing stories but the story with the most detail was of a hunter in Minnesota who shot the beast and put the body in a large freezer. In the 1960’s and 70’s the man took the creature on a traveling sideshow exhibit of a mysterious hominid where several people were able to view the creature. At the time several scientists also got to examine and test the body. The body and owner disappeared from the public in the 1970’s and in February 2013 the Minnesota Iceman was sold on ebay and was placed in the “Museum of Weird” in Austin, Texas.
The first reported Bigfoot sighting in Texas, known as the Wildman, Wildwoman, or Wildchild of the Navidad, occurred near Sublime, Texas, in 1837. This mysterious figure sparked both fear and fascination among locals. Described as living in the Navidad River bottoms of the hill country, it was said to be covered in short brown hair and remarkably agile, enabling it to evade capture for many years. The creature was also reported to emit a deep, guttural growl that frightened everything in its vicinity.
At Bigfoot Surfboards, we design each board with the surfer in mind, ensuring that every ride is both exciting and enjoyable. Proudly crafted and shipped from the USA, each board is named after a version of Bigfoot, bringing its own unique character to your ride. Our boards are specifically designed to offer a blend of performance and fun for surfers of all levels.
Our boards feature a larger, wider tail design, called the swallow tail, which enhances wave catch and provides a smoother ride. This design helps you easily enter the wave and generates more push for added stability, making for an enjoyable ride. The swallow tail also improves maneuverability, allowing for sharper turns and a more responsive surfing experience.
Both the Bigfoot and Yowie boards feature the Swallow Tail design, striking the perfect balance between stability and maneuverability. These versatile boards perform well across various wave conditions, whether you’re carving or riding a more mellow wake. At Bigfoot Surfboards, we aim to provide a board that matches your adventurous spirit and enhances every ride.
The "thruster" fin configuration includes two outer fins to generate speed and a center fin for stability and control. This setup is versatile and widely used for surf-style wakesurf boards, but we offer a customizable fin system. You can remove the fins, ride with a single fin, or opt for a two-fin setup, allowing you to adapt to different wave types and riding styles.
The squash tail offers an excellent balance of stability, speed, and responsiveness. Its rounded-square shape creates a smooth, predictable ride, making it ideal for a variety of conditions. This versatility is why it's a good choice for all-around wakesurf boards.
Selecting the right size board depends on the rider’s weight. Here’s a general guideline for picking the appropriate wakesurf board size:
For beginner and intermediate riders, a larger board (longer in length) is ideal. These boards are slower in the water but provide more stability, making it easier to stand and ride. The added length gives more surface area to stand on, increasing stability but reducing maneuverability.
For intermediate to advanced riders, a smaller board (shorter in length) will be faster in the water and allow for more maneuverability. However, these boards are less stable and harder to control, making them better suited for those looking to perform tricks.
If you’re just starting with wakesurfing, you are likely a beginner and should choose a board size based on your weight. Beginners generally prefer a surf-style board for its stability and ease of use.
As you progress in skill level, you may choose to adjust your board size for better maneuverability, opting for a smaller board as you aim for faster speeds and more advanced tricks, allowing for greater control and precision in your movements.
